How the seat pool splits

Every seat in the ~2,274-seat ASU&H PG pool belongs to a quota. The All India Quota — plus central university and deemed university seats — is counselled centrally by AACCC on aaccc.gov.in. The remaining state-quota seats are counselled by each state’s own authority, usually with domicile rules.

  • AIQ — a defined share of government/aided college seats open to all-India candidates via AACCC.
  • Central & deemed universities — their PG seats also fill through AACCC counselling.
  • State quota — remaining seats via state authorities; eligibility conditions vary by state.
  • Ayurveda holds the largest share of the ASU&H pool; Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy streams fill the rest.

How to read the official seat matrix

The live matrix publishes on aaccc.gov.in during counselling, and state portals publish their own versions. Each row combines three dimensions — learn to read them together.

  • Institute — the college holding the seat.
  • Subject/branch — Kayachikitsa, Shalya, Prasuti, Panchakarma, etc.
  • Quota + category — AIQ or state, then UR / EWS / OBC / SC / ST / PwD rows.
  • Counts change every cycle — never plan off a screenshot from a previous year.

What the matrix means for your target rank

Seat supply is fixed; demand concentrates. High-demand branches in established colleges close at strong AIRs while less-sought combinations stay open deeper into counselling — prior allotment data is your honest targeting tool.

  • Pull previous-year opening/closing ranks per institute + branch from AACCC allotment lists.
  • A seat exists for a band of ranks, not a dream — match your AIR to realistic cells.
  • Keep 3 tiers in your choice list: reach, realistic, and safe combinations.
